Everybody has them, fetishes. Many don't speak of them; some are in denial that they have them. But the truth is there are certain things in each of our lives that we get off on that would raise a few brows or garner a chuckle or two should our friends find them out. Things that turn one person on may not turn on another, in fact, they may seem unhealthy or even disgusting to some. But c'mon, who doesn't like freckles?
I'm talking full, blown-out freckles so numerous they cover every inch of a man's skin—everywhere. Yeah. Those kind of freckles.
I once had a boyfriend who was covered in freckles; so heavily was the coverage and his skin so populated with the things, I believe that was on my list of reasons why never to see him again. Of course, I was fifteen, but still, considering not too many guys in my town had red hair or freckles or took European cruises, complete with 3-day stays at nudist islands, and then seeing all those freckles splattered across his chest and arms and legs, and even his ass, I think really scared me at the time…
In writing Divinity though, I wanted my vampire Martin (the main character) to have an attraction to something so strongly that it lasted for centuries and was near unforgettable. Well, when my mind heard "unforgettable," the first thing I thought of was those freckles that had traumatized me as a teen.
And after writing about them and how Martin adored them on Dylan (and Dylan's ass), well, I'm looking forward to the next carrot-top I meet who's kind or brave enough to show me his freckles.
