Jingle Bells by Wendi Zwaduk

“I’m sorry he couldn’t be home in time for the holidays.”

Jamie hugged her mother once more. “I’ll live. I won’t like it, but I’ll live.”

As she watched her mother and father stroll through the powdery snow, her heart clenched. Yet another holiday on her own. No matter how much she tried to ignore the ache, she missed Dean. Yes, the paperwork and his numerous letters said he’d be home in time for Christmas, but she knew full well how R and R leave could get screwed up in a mass of governmental red tape. Even worse if the soldier was a shifter. His abilities kept him in the thick of the battle. Get in, get the info, and get out without being caught.

Blowing out a long breath, she locked the door. When she flicked the switch to douse the sparkling string of lights outlining the door, her phone buzzed. Jamie jumped and retrieved her cell from her back pocket. How’d he know when to text her?

Because he claimed her as his mate and could read her thoughts.

Change into your Naughty Mrs. Claus outfit and wait by the tree. As she glanced around the empty foyer, she strained to hear any extra sounds in the house. Chewing on the inside of her cheek, she closed the text message and headed for the bedroom.

When she pulled the downy soft sweater over her head, she swore she felt the added caress of a hand across her breast. She shivered and not from the cold. If he were there, he’d have her from behind, stroking every inch of her body and whispering in her ear how much he loved her. His teeth would rasp her neck as he kissed and savored her. Excitement raced through her veins. Her heart raced. If he could text, then he had to be close. He knew she needed him.

Moments later, she crept into the living room and stood before the Christmas tree. Thankful she’d donned his silk robe over her lingerie to stifle the chill in the empty house, she ran her index finger over his picture on one of the ornaments.

A tear stung the corner of her eye. “Dean,” she murmured. “I miss you so much.”

“Then turn around.”

As her brain registered his words, Jamie turned. Dean, in all his naked glory stood before her. Well, no, he wore a red Santa hat over his black hair. The bell jingled as he shifted and held out his hand. Red, blue, yellow, and green light bathed his muscular form. His cock jutted out at her like a beacon.

Speechless, she let the robe slip open. Even through two layers of silk, her nipples puckered under his scrutiny. Heat flooded her core and dampened the thin strip of satin between her legs.

With silent footsteps, he crossed the short distance and captured her lips in a tender kiss. Opening to him, she tangled her tongue with his, savoring the intoxicating taste of peppermint and sexy man—her soldier.

Tangling one hand in her hair, he used the other to draw the robe down her body. When they broke for air, he nuzzled her neck. “I need you, Jamie.” His dick stabbed into her lower belly. “I’m not me without you.”

Backing away a few inches, she smoothed her hand over his bristled jaw. His green eyes glittered in the soft light. The same C-shaped scar crinkled on his temple. A tear slipped down her cheek.

“What?” he whispered.

“I’ve stared at your picture, hoping you’d come home to me in one piece. I wanted to make sure you were real.”

As he kissed her again, his left hand meandered down to her shoulder and settled on her breast. She arched into him, loving the feel of him all over her body. She moaned. The strap of the flimsy holiday nightie fell from its precarious position, exposing her nipple to the cool air.

“You make me want to rush this.” He chuckled against her mouth. “But we have all night.”

Jamie trailed her hand down his muscle-corded chest to the wisp of silky black hair leading to his thick erection. Wrapping her fingers around his girth, she stroked him. “Unleash your beast and make love to me in front of the tree.”

Dropping to his knees, he dragged the skirt of her lingerie to the side. “No panties?” He rubbed his nose over her cleft, nuzzling her. “So beautiful.” His warm breath on her clit sent fever through her body. A fresh wave of moisture pooled between her thighs.

His tongue rasped over pussy lips, eliciting another shiver. Her knees went weak and she sank down onto his lap. Grasping her hips, Dean entered her. “Tight. Fuck, yes.” The bell on his hat jingled with each thrust.

Clutching his shoulders, she rode his cock, burrowing him deep into her body. Each thrust brought her closer to orgasm. She cried his name. “Dean!”

A split-second after she came, Dean surged within her. Blazing hot seed spilled into her womb, coating her insides. “Yes, baby.”

As the lights twinkled on the Christmas tree, Jamie snuggled in her lover’s arms. Kissing his photo didn’t hold a candle to nuzzling his scratchy cheek. “Thank God, you’re home safe, but how? I didn’t see you come in.”

“When your folks left, I wriggled through the open door and waited for you. I shifted from my cat form after you strode out of the bedroom.”

“But I thought you couldn’t make it home.”

“Forgive me for the little white lie. I got my leave as expected, but I had something I needed to do.”

He plucked a crimson ornament from the tree and knelt next to her. “I can’t propose without a ring. You accept every part of me. Will you marry me?”

Gasping, she brought a shaky hand to her mouth. The love of her life, naked as the day he was born, asked for her hand in marriage. What a Christmas present! Smoothing her hand through the stubble on the back of his neck, she stared deep into his eyes. “Yes! Absolutely, yes!”

“It’s ten after midnight. Care to celebrate all night long? How about a game of Jingle Bells?”

Pressing a kiss to his lips, she tugged him back into her arms. “All night long.”
